Implants

But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it.

2 Timothy 4:17a

Jesus tends to meet with me powerfully in two places: my bathroom and the dental chair. For quite some time, the dental chair would be a place of much anguish. Faithfully, the Prince of Peace has delivered me from the torment and anxiousness that tries to come upon me regarding dental operations.

I do not have much fear in going to the dentist these days, however, this victorious mindset does not keep me from seeking Jesus’ help and comfort whenever my appointment times arise. In May of 2022 I found myself in need of dental implants. In much shock, I prayed Jesus would lead me to the perfect oral surgeon for this procedure. He did just that!

I knew Dr. Neagle was the surgeon for me when I walked into his office for my consult. I saw a sobering rendition of Noah’s Ark framed in the waiting room. The pairs of exotic animals waiting to board the ark of grace gave me a sense of peace knowing I was in the office of someone who honored God Almighty.

The next affirmation was the framed picture beside the imaging station which was titled, The Great Physician. This was remarkable! Jesus stood between two surgeons with His hands on their shoulders as they operated. I know and understand Jesus is with me wherever I go, but my faith is lifted when He is exalted in a place. Jesus said, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:20).

As the day arrived for my surgery, I serenely sat in the operating chair. I had oxygen in my nose and my IV had been started. I thanked Jesus in my heart letting Him know I felt His presence. I asked Him to make this the perfect surgery. I even asked Jesus to guide Dr. Neagle’s hands, but for Jesus Himself to place my implants.

The next thing I knew, I was waking up and being wheeled to my husband’s F150 pickup truck. The first thing I remember Rob saying to me was, “The Doctor said this was the perfect surgery. He said it was the easiest surgery he’s ever done.” Groggy from anesthesia and with gauze piled in my mouth I excitedly asked and stated, “He did? That’s what I prayed!” I then began to tell Rob I prayed in my heart that very request, “Jesus, make this the perfect surgery. Guide Dr. Neagle’s hands, and You place the implants.”

A week later, I had my post-op checkup. I was so excited to verify this astounding remark from the Doctor. After Neagle came back, I shared my heart’s prayer and before I could say much more, Dr. Neagle quickly said, “That was the easiest surgery I’ve ever done in my whole life.” Wow!

I hope you know that we have an ever-present help! His name is Jesus, and He will never let you down. Do you  know Jesus as your Savior and Helper? Comment below and let me know of a time He has helped you!
