You Move Me

Your own ears will hear Him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left. Isaiah 30:21

I love when the Lord reminds me of things of the past. The memories He has me ponder are memories wrapped in sweetness. This particular memory was just that!

As a young girl in junior high I had a karaoke machine that I would spend hours singing into. I never thought I had a good voice, but to sing was a dream I had. One of the cassette tapes I owned was Susan Ashton’s You Move Me. Now, as a mother of three young girls, I wonder how at just eleven-years-old this song captivated my heart.

I practiced so much that I built enough courage to sing You Move Me in front of the Choir teacher after school one day. Did I believe the lyrics I sang at such a young age?

So I lie here on the couch with my heart hangin’ out.

Frozen solid with fear like a rock in the ground.

But You move me!

You give me courage I didn’t know I had.

You move me!

I can’t go with You and stay where I am so

You move me!

Out of myself and into the fire

You move me!

Burning with love and with hope and desire

how You move me!

I believe I did, and I still believe the lyrics to this day! I am so grateful for this compassionate and gentle reminder that He moves me past all of my fears, insecurities, and even comfort. He moves me, and I’m taking delight in every little thing. Oh, how He moves me.

  1. I am so grateful for the moving of His Spirit on our hearts! What would we do without Him? Left to ourselves we always wander off the path.. 😣 Thank You Jesus for Your great mercies and reminders with which you move us by!

To imagine you Heather as a young junior high girl gathering up the courage to sing to your choir teacher is so sweet and precious 😭💜

You know, as I was reading this, another thought and perspective came to me. The thought that WE also move GOD’S HEART! 😮 It’s incredible to think! But He is a God of deep affection and emotions! If you’ve never heard the song “Do you know the way you move Me?” by Misty Edward’s, I recommend you give it a listen! So powerful and… moving! 😘

What a beautiful perspective. The heart of our Father had to have been so pleased to see and hear me that day. I don’t think I thought about that! Also, I will take a listen to that song. It sounds beautiful.
