God of Miracles

As I was driving my girls to school one morning I used the precious time given us to reflect on a beautiful miracle. The night prior was full of God’s goodness and faithfulness!

Earlier in the week I had invited our dear Turkish friends Yuksel and Dijle over for dinner. As they prepared to move to Colorado, I wanted to use our last few days to encourage one another on toward good deeds in our shared faith of Jesus Christ. They accepted the invitation for fellowship and showed up right on time.

We enjoyed the food of course, but we relished the time praying and talking about what God has done and is currently doing in our lives and the lives of those around us. As we were finishing the evening together, the doorbell rang unexpectedly. Our next-door neighbors came over to deliver a belated Christmas gift (in May).

This is a miracle! These particular neighbors are Muslim and they do not accept Jesus as the Way, the Truth, and the Life, yet they were sent to honor Jesus. This divine timing and each of the details are so God and so beautiful. God made the impossible, possible!

You see, Yuksel and Dijle were once Muslim, but by God’s grace and mercy, He unveiled their eyes and spoke truth into their hearts. They accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and now eagerly share the love and hope of Jesus with Muslims. Their joy is to share the testimony given them by Jesus which details their radical escape from the darkness and deceit of Islam.

When I opened the front door, my heart leapt with joy for the answered prayer (3 years of specific prayers for this moment)! I greeted our neighbors and hugged them with delight and love. I invited them inside and the next fifteen minutes were awe-inspiring and such a testament that we serve a living God who hears us!

As I drove my girls to school the following morning, I made sure to impress upon their hearts the miraculous moment they had been a part of the evening prior. “Girls, do y’all know that y’all were part of a miracle last night?!”, I asked enthusiastically.  I continued to explain, “God sent our neighbors over to deliver us a Christmas present while Yuksel and Dijle were over!”

“I’ve always wanted them to come over when Yuksel and Dijle were here mom!”, said Millie sweetly. “Yes, and that is exactly why He did it Millie! God knows the desires of your heart and He delights in giving them to you!”

Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires.
Psalm 37:4

“Do you know what a ‘desire of your heart’ is? Well…a desire of your heart is something that you really really want. God doesn’t give us everything we want because He knows what is best for us, but the desire for our neighbors to know Jesus is very good and they met Him last night! Let’s keep praying for them!”, I said with overflowing joy!

You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our Savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth, even those who sail on distant seas.
Psalm 65:5

Millie and Leni listened intently and excitedly that they had been part of a miracle. It is so exhilarating knowing that the Lord had planned this long before the foundations of the earth were laid. I am amazed and perplexed as He continually uses my family and I to share in His kingdom building and miracles on earth!

Be encouraged dear friend that prayer changes things! I’d love to hear how the Lord is responding to your prayers of faith. Feel free to share and contact me via our contact page!
